YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF! GO ACROSS THE STREET INSTEAD! Initially I gave this joint a stellar review, but I take it back. The shop is excellent; it's clean, organized, stocked with plenty of jewelry varieties, and the prices are between decent to fair. My issue is the one thing I will never tolerate in my business transactions and that, ladies and gentlemen, is a little something Kats like me raised in Brooklyn call "low-balling." I've heard rumors and read instances online regarding that exact thing at this exact place of business. I have completed two transactions, both of which were definitely lower payouts than they should have been, and refused to do a third today because I knew the numbers were off. This is part of my job, if there is scamming or business malpractice of any kind, I investigate for proof. I am NOT a mystery shopper, but that is a part of what I do. I checked and reviewed the joint across the street first(The Gold Mine), Eric and his shop as well as his handling of business passed with flying colors. Theodore Plate, however, caught my attention negatively the first time I ever came in, but only after the gentleman I dealt with gave me the price offering. Up until the moment of "ringing me up" this man was cool, kind, knowledgeable, and very amicable. Clearly he's a skilled salesman, Iwas completely sold by his disarming and inviting personality traits. That all went out the window when he gave me a number. I always use my signature line to give people a chance to correct themselves, "If that's fair to you, then it's fair to me." I have been using that line forever in business. It's one of the most polite ways of saying, "Really? Are you sure that's the most honest and right, let alone best, you can do? Thank you for assuming I'm an idiot." I won't provide the name of the individual because I respect his privacy and anonymity. As for the gentleman of the hour..... I'm giving you a chance to make things right. You got me twice and granted you didn't skim big numbers, but it's not about the amount to me, it could've been a penny, it makes no difference because it's about the principle. I live by a code of honor and I was nothing but professional and courteous with you as I am with everyone by default. I respect myself and everyone around me until I am fed reasons to change my perception. I even came back a third time to see if maybe I was over thinking, but no, I went across the street to The Gold Mine and got treated with RESPECT by Eric as is always the case with him and his associates. He understands the principle of mutual respect. You've lost my business or anyone I have already and would've recommended. However, you make things right and I'll make this review disappear. You just won't have a review from my profile, simple and fair as far as I see it. I've been in customer service management for over a decade now and if there is one thing I learned, it's treat the customer right and you'll never be wrong. I am disappointed, but business is business. No hard feelings. Best regards, -Sark

Jun 03, 2025 · Sarkis SarkisovI brought a piece of jewelry in with exact instructions on what I wanted done. They knew they made a mistake that couldn’t be undone. I cried and put the piece in my purse and walked toward the door. The owner yelled how they get 100 pieces a week to fix. I turned and said I wasn’t coming back anymore. He screamed “Good! Don’t! “ as I walked through the door. Wow an unprofessional and disrespectful man child.
Apr 18, 2023 · Judith TUnfortunately I had not one but two very unpleasant experiences here. The simple repair work done on my bracelet was of horrible quality, and in fact tarnished and broke within two months when I paid a lot of money for it. Not only that, but I have never ever been treated in such a disrespectful and rude way by any business owner or employee in my life. Especially since I remained kind and calm the entire time. As a woman in her early twenties, the way I was spoken to by a man more than twice my age was disappointing to say the least. I would never recommend this jewelry store to anyone. I felt very taken advantage of.
Feb 18, 2022 · Katie ReevesGreat hometown jeweler. Fair honest pricing and they treat you well. They custom made my wife's engagement and wedding ring and we were very pleased with our results. Family owned business and I enjoy supporting small business, highly recommend!
Mar 25, 2021 · Brandon McGregorCan’t thank these guys enough. Had to have my grandfather’s Claddagh ring resized. Turns out it was purchased from here decades ago so it was only fitting to trust them with it. They did a beautiful job and it looks brand new. Thank you for doing such a great job on something so important. I’d recommend them to anyone.
